Peter Leary is a Research Fellow and bioinformatician currently working at the Functional Genomics Center Zurich (FGCZ) and collaborating with Prof. Weber and Prof. Müller at the Institute of Molecular Cancer Research (IMCR), University of Zurich.
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a PhD in microbial genomics from Newcastle University. Previously, he worked at Newcastle University's bioinformatics core facility where he contributed to cancer genomics projects.
His research focuses on genomic data analysis with specialization in biomarker identification for liver diseases and cancer. He has developed novel computational pipelines integrating cell-free DNA (cfDNA) with whole-exome sequencing (WXS) data, particularly through the LITMUS project targeting miRNA and mRNA biomarkers for NAFLD/NASH. His work bridges advanced sequencing technologies with clinical applications in hepatology and oncology.
