About
Peter Kraus is an Associate Professor of Physics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and group leader of the 'High-harmonic generation and EUV science' team at ARCNL. He specializes in developing extreme ultraviolet (EUV) and nonlinear light sources using high-harmonic generation, with applications in ultrafast spectroscopy and nanoscale metrology.
Education: PhD in Physics from ETH Zurich (2015), awarded the ETH Medal and Justin Jankunkas Award. Prior to VU, he worked at UC Berkeley (USA) on attosecond phenomena in solids.
Research interests focus on EUV light sources, solid-state physics, and nanolithography-relevant metrology. He has secured significant funding including ERC Starting Grant (2022), NWO Veni (2018), Vidi (2023), and multiple grants from NWO TTW and ENW.
Teaches courses on electricity, magnetism, and physics projects for Bachelor students. His lab, part of LaserLaB - Physics of Light, explores cutting-edge optical techniques and materials.
