Peter Kerr is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Birmingham, affiliated with the School of Government. His research focuses on British politics, UK party politics, political leadership, and the impacts of neoliberalism on governance.

- BA (Hons) in Politics and Sociology from University of Strathclyde
- PhD in Political Science from University of Birmingham
Research interests include state theory, party modernisation (particularly Conservative party and Corbynism), Brexit discourses, and pandemic governance. He co-founded and co-edited the Palgrave journal British Politics from 2005–2020, remaining part of its senior editorial team.
