Peter Kelly is Professor in the School of Psychology and Associate Dean (Research) for the Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Wollongong. He directs the Centre for Health Psychology Practice and Research and maintains clinical psychology registration with expertise in substance use disorders and mental health comorbidities.
Research focuses on substance use treatment innovations, mutual aid effectiveness, health literacy in vulnerable populations, and integrated mental health care. Current projects examine peer-delivered interventions, treatment outcome measurement, family support models, and cognitive remediation approaches.
Publications emphasize evidence-based treatment models, recovery support systems, and health service improvements. Recent work explores mutual aid adaptations across cultures, technology-assisted interventions, and longitudinal recovery patterns following residential treatment.
Grant funding includes NHMRC support for trials on loneliness interventions, telehealth continuing care, and value-based healthcare models in addiction services.
