Professor Peter Kelly is a Professor of Education at Deakin University's School of Education, within the Faculty of Arts and Education. His research focuses on young people's education, employment pathways, health, and well-being in the context of global crises like the Anthropocene and the 4th Industrial Revolution. He leads the Young People's Sustainable Futures Lab and has contributed to over 100 publications. Key research areas include youth marginalization, sustainable futures, and the intersection of technology and education.
Education: PhD and Bachelor degrees in Education and Arts from Deakin University. He supervises doctoral candidates in topics ranging from education in postcolonial contexts to neurodiverse teacher preparation. Awards include Monash University's Teaching and Learning Development Grant (2005) and Deakin's Teaching Explorer Award (2003).
Research grants include an Australian Research Council project on creative industries and youth employment (2021–2025) and a Costa Foundation study on pandemic impacts (2021–2023). His work spans global regions, with notable studies in Pakistan, Australia, and de-industrializing cities.
