Peter John Roffey

Peter John Roffey is an Associate Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. He serves as Director of the Division of Thoracic-Foregut Anesthesia and Associate Director of the Intensive Care Unit at Kenneth Norris, Jr. Hospital. His clinical and research interests focus on high-risk oncology anesthesia, cardiothoracic anesthesia, critical care medicine, palliative care, and pain management.

Dr. Roffey earned his BA in Chemistry (Summa Cum Laude) from Occidental College and his MD from the University of Southern California School of Medicine. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at USC and remained in the department as an assistant professor before advancing to his current clinical academic role.

His research emphasizes patient outcomes in complex surgical populations, protocol-driven ICU management, and psychosocial aspects of critical care. Notable topics include demoralization syndrome in terminally ill patients, postoperative complications, and innovative pain management strategies using ketamine and droperidol.
