Peter J. Mucha is the Jack Byrne Distinguished Professor in Mathematics at Dartmouth College. He holds a B.S. from Cornell University, M.Phil. from the University of Cambridge, and M.A. and Ph.D. from Princeton University. His research focuses on networks, complex systems, and data science, including network representations of data, community detection, and modeling dynamics on networks. Mucha's work is interdisciplinary, applying tools of network analysis across multiple scientific domains.
He has received notable awards such as the DOE Early Career PI Award, NSF CAREER Award, and recognition as an HHMI Gilliam Advisor. Before joining Dartmouth in 2021 as part of the Jack Byrne Academic Cluster in Mathematics and Decision Science, he served as a faculty member at UNC-Chapel Hill, where he was department chair and founded the Department of Applied Physical Sciences. His current affiliation includes the Department of Mathematics at Dartmouth College, located at Kemeny Hall.
