Peter Heeringa

Prof. Peter Heeringa is a Professor at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Groningen/UMCG, specializing in immunology and vasculitis research. He holds roles as Board Member of the Dutch Society of Immunology and the ZonMW committees, and serves as a scientific consultant for the Vasculitis Foundation. His research focuses on autoimmune vasculitides, autoantibodies, and inflammatory mechanisms in diseases like giant cell arteritis and granulomatosis with polyangiitis. He has received a VIDI grant from NWO (2005) and contributed to over 269 publications. His work integrates translational immunology and clinical research, with affiliations at the Groningen Kidney Center and Translational Immunology Groningen (TRIGR). He advises on national/international grants and journals, and has organized major immunology conferences.
