About
Professor Peter Haynes FRS is a Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of Queens' College. He served as Head of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics from 2005 to 2015 and currently co-convenes the Cambridge Centre for Climate Science. He holds the title of Official Fellow and Director of Studies, Part II Mathematics, at Queens' College.
Research Interests:
- Large-scale fluid dynamics of atmosphere and ocean
- Wave propagation and breaking
- Transport and mixing of trace species, including reacting chemical and biological species
- Atmospheric dynamics, including global circulation
- Interactions between dynamics, chemistry, and radiation in atmospheric science
- Physical and dynamical processes controlling chemical species distribution, such as water vapor
