Peter Diehl

Peter Diehl serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of History at Western Washington University, actively teaching courses including History 499 and History 515 during the Spring 2025 semester.

His research centers on critical themes in medieval European history: heresy as a religious and social phenomenon, the political dynamics of medieval Italy, the governance structures of the Carolingian Empire, and historical analyses of pandemics' societal impacts. This interdisciplinary focus bridges religious studies, political history, and epidemiological crises within pre-modern contexts.
