About
Peter DeCelles is a Professor in the Department of Geosciences at the University of Arizona. His research integrates tectonics, stratigraphy, and structural geology to investigate the formation of major mountain belts and sedimentary basins in regions such as the Himalayas, Tibet, central Andes, western USA, and central Mediterranean.
His work combines field mapping, sedimentology, and regional structural analysis, supported by collaborations with experts in radiogenic/stable isotope geochemistry, geochronology, seismology, petrology, thermochronology, and geodynamics. Students in his group engage in global field-based projects involving basin analysis and geochronology.
