Peter Davidson

Peter Davidson is a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Strathclyde within the Faculty of Science. He serves as the Director of Teaching and has held significant academic leadership roles, including Chief Undergraduate Academic Selector and Year 1 Coordinator. He is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and an active member of the Edinburgh Mathematical Society's Education Committee.

His research focuses on combinatorial and geometric group theory, with specific interests in the word problem for finitely presented groups, Dehn functions, asphericity of group presentations, groups defined by finite state automata, and inverse semigroups. He also engages in pedagogical research, particularly in mathematics and statistics support in higher education.

Peter Davidson has supervised numerous level 4 honours projects in advanced mathematical topics such as topology, automata theory, complex dynamics, and knot theory.
