Professor Peter Connor is an Associate Professor of Sustainable Energy Policy in the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy (FESE) at the University of Exeter, where he has been a faculty member since 2005. He began as a Lecturer in Renewable Energy Policy and was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2008 before attaining his current rank. His work focuses on national and local policies for promoting renewable energy technologies and their integration into smart energy systems, with particular attention to electricity and heat policy in the UK and EU Member States.

His research spans sustainable energy policy, environmental regulation, urban and regional planning, applied economics, and political science. His interdisciplinary approach integrates technical, economic, and governance perspectives to address complex energy challenges.
Professor Connor is actively engaged in research collaboration with institutions across Europe, including the Technical University of Delft, ETH Zurich, and Cardiff University. He is a member of the British Institute of Energy Economics (and served on its Council from 2009 to 2018) and the International Association of Energy Economics. He serves as Climate Advocate for FESE and as Library Liaison Officer for Renewable Energy.
He supervises postgraduate research students at both PhD and Master’s levels and welcomes opportunities for research supervision, consultancy, policy advice, media engagement, and collaborative projects. He is also available for external examining, peer review, and editorial roles.
