Peter Biberthaler

Prof. Dr. Peter Biberthaler is a Full Professor and Chair of the Department of Trauma Surgery at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), within the TUM School of Medicine and Health. His academic career includes medical training at LMU Munich, specialized trauma surgery training under Prof. Schweiberer, and certifications in surgery (2003) and orthopedics/trauma surgery (2007). He has held his current position since 2011.

Research focuses on severe trauma care, traumatic brain injury, and shoulder surgery innovations, including vascular visualization techniques via intravital microscopy. Notable contributions include biomarker studies (GFAP/UCH-L1) for brain injury diagnostics and advancements in surgical techniques for complex fractures and implants.
