Dr. Peter Bergold is a Professor of Physiology and Pharmacology at SUNY-Downstate Health Sciences University. His research focuses on traumatic brain injury (TBI), neurodegeneration, and drug therapies targeting inflammation and neural repair. He has led the Graduate Program in Neural and Behavioral Sciences and has been recognized with the Chancellor’s Award for Teaching (2001). His work includes over 60 peer-reviewed publications and a U.S. patent on TBI treatment.
Education:
- PhD in Molecular Biology from Weill-Cornell Medical College (1986)
- Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neuroscience at Columbia University (1986-1990)
