Peter B. Houk

Peter B. Houk is an Instructor/Artistic Director of the MIT Glass Lab, collaborating closely with Professor Michael Cima since 1998. He has expanded the program's capacity and introduced initiatives like the Page Hazlegrove Lecture in Glass Art and the MIT Great Glass Pumpkin Patch. His focus includes supporting interdisciplinary projects such as G3DP (hot glass 3D printing) and VirtualGlass software. Houk’s studio work spans architectural glass, blown glass, and their integration.

• B.A., Oberlin College (1980)
• M.A., Tufts University and School of the Museum of Fine Arts (1986)

Research & Artistic Contributions: Houk prioritizes bridging art and technology, exemplified by collaborations with MIT’s CSAIL and projects like the MIT Glass Band. His efforts have expanded glass art accessibility both within MIT and externally.
