Peter Allum is a Visiting Specialist and Lecturer at the University of Plymouth's School of Health Professions. He serves as Programme Lead for the MSc Pre-Hospital Critical Care - Retrieval and Transfer and lectures in BSc (Hons) Paramedic Practitioner and BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science programs.
His research focuses on:
- Pre-hospital critical care systems and retrieval medicine
- Clinical decision-making frameworks in paramedic practice
- Paediatric pain management protocols
- Shock index validation for critical bleeding
- Autonomous practice in minor injury units
- Ethical leadership in emergency healthcare

His teaching encompasses Sustainability in Paramedic Practice, Leadership and Management, Ethical Decision Making, Pre-hospital Critical Care, Cardiac Care, Research Study Skills, and Major Incident Management.
