Pete Turner

Pete Turner is Lecturer in Film and Digital Media Production at Oxford Brookes University, teaching across Communication, Media and Culture programs. A Brookes Union Teaching Award finalist, he specializes in horror cinema, social media marketing, and found footage aesthetics.

Research explores cognitive approaches to horror film reception, audience engagement with transmedia marketing, and cultural memory of VHS-era film consumption. Current projects investigate supernatural folklore in contemporary horror franchises.

Publications demonstrate consistent examination of audience experiences, from psychological responses to found footage horror to nostalgic recollections of 1980s media consumption. Recent work analyzes Instagram communities around film marketing campaigns.

Turner supervises student projects spanning documentary ethics, digital inclusion, and interactive storytelling. As novelist and screenwriter (under pseudonym C.M. Taylor), he bridges academic and creative practice.
