Pete S. Batra, MD, is the Chairperson of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Rush University Medical Center and holds the Stanton A. Friedberg, MD, Endowed Chair in Otolaryngology. He is a Professor at Rush Medical College and Director of the Rush Sinus, Allergy and Asthma Center. He previously served on faculty at the Cleveland Clinic and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
Dr. Batra is a fellowship-trained rhinologist and skull base surgeon with over 20 years of experience. His research interests include:
- Microbiome analysis in healthy and diseased sinuses
- Endotyping and structured histopathology in chronic sinusitis
- Outcomes of minimally invasive skull base surgery
- Healthcare disparities in airway disorders
His recent publications, including major consensus statements and reviews, focus on chronic rhinosinusitis, sinonasal tumors, balloon dilation techniques, and skull base reconstruction. These works reflect a strong trend toward evidence-based guidelines, multidisciplinary care, and personalized treatment strategies in rhinology and skull base surgery.

He leads the Rush Sinus, Allergy and Asthma Center, a multidisciplinary team dedicated to improving care for complex upper airway conditions.
