Assist. Prof. Petar Dobrev is an academic at the Department of History of Byzantium and the Balkans, Faculty of History, Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. His research focuses on social history of the Balkans, agrarian history, and leftist movements in the region. He has been a PhD candidate since 2015, working on the Holevich family's role as agrarian capitalists across the Ottoman Empire, Bulgaria, and Romania.

Publications include edited volumes on Bulgarian transition narratives and articles analyzing Balkan agrarian history, media evolution, and alternative historiographies.
