Perthame Benoît

Benoît Perthame is a Professor at Sorbonne Université (UPMC) since 1993 and serves as Director of the Laboratoire Jacques-Louis Lions (2013-present). He previously held leadership roles at INRIA (Head of teams M3N and BANG, 1998-2013) and academic positions at École Normale Supérieure (Assistant Professor, 1983-1988) and University of Orléans (Professor, 1988-1993).

• Fields of Research: Mathematical modeling for biomedical applications, tumor growth analysis, bacterial cell motion, evolution/selection models, neural networks, hyperbolic systems, kinetic equations, and optimal control.
• Honors: Grand Prix INRIA (2015), Blaise Pascal Medal (2013), CNRS Silver Medal (1994), Pecot Prize (1989), and Sacchi-Landriani Prize (1997).
• Leadership: Chair of the mathematics division at EURASC (2015-...), Editor-in-Chief of Modélisation Mathématique et Analyse Numérique (1997-2005), and member of numerous scientific boards including CEA-DAM, CNRS committees, and international institutions.
• Academic Contributions: Advisor to 25 PhD students (with 14 in research careers, 5 as university professors or CNRS senior scientists), author of over 200 publications, and active participant in interdisciplinary research initiatives.
