Perrine Castets

Perrine Castets is an Assistant Professor at the University of Geneva's Faculty of Medicine, affiliated with the Department of Cell Physiology and Metabolism. She leads the Muscle and Neuromuscular Junction research group, focusing on neuromuscular interactions and their pathologies.

Education:

• Ecole Normale Supérieure Ulm (Paris), Agrégation de Biologie (2004)
• PhD in Biology, University Pierre and Marie Curie (2009), studying SEPN1-related myopathies

Research Interests: Investigates mechanisms governing neuromuscular junction maintenance, neural activity-dependent gene expression, and muscle dysfunction in diseases like myopathies. Her work explores metabolic and autophagy pathways, aiming to develop therapeutic strategies for neuromuscular disorders.

Advising & Grants: Mentors PhD students (Loris Levet, Patricia Lopez) and has secured major grants to study neuromuscular integrity. Her lab collaborates on translational projects linking synaptic perturbations to muscle pathology.
