Research Interests
Bolander’s research centres on how Human Resource processes—such as talent management, performance management, promotion and employee selection—are enacted in everyday organisational life. She investigates how employees are categorised and quantified through these processes, and how such practices shape employees’ self-understandings, career narratives and organisational attachment. In addition, she studies the challenges and identity work of first-time managers navigating daily work demands.
Her empirical work is grounded in qualitative methodologies, often drawing on ethnographic and interview-based approaches to unpack the micro-dynamics of HR practices.
Teaching & Awards
She teaches research methods, organisational change, human resource management and organisation theory at bachelor, master, PhD and executive levels. She has been honoured with both the “Teacher of the Year” award and the “Outstanding Pedagogical Achievements” award at SSE.
