Penny Green is Professor of Law and Globalisation at Queen Mary University of London, where she served as Head of the Law Department (2018-2022). She holds a BA in Psychology, Anthropology and Sociology from Australian National University and MPhil/PhD in Criminology from University of Cambridge.
Her research examines state crime theory, genocide, mass evictions, and resistance movements, with fieldwork conducted in conflict zones including Turkey, Kurdistan, Palestine/Israel, and Myanmar. She founded and directs the International State Crime Initiative (ISCI), a multidisciplinary research collaboration.
Professor Green has secured over £1.5 million in research funding, including four ESRC grants. She currently supervises 8 PhD students working on state crime resistance and human rights violations.
Honors include Distinguished Visiting Fellowships at Ulster University and UNSW, trusteeships at Democratic Progress Institute and People's Palace Projects, and editorial leadership of the journal State Crime.
