About
Peng Ji, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor and Associate Nutritionist in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of California, Davis. He holds a joint appointment in the Department of Nutrition. His research focuses on evaluating nutritional factors that influence neurodevelopment and host resilience to early-life stressors such as infections and stress, using neonatal pigs as a translational model. Key projects include investigating iron status impacts on brain development and immune function.
Education: B.S. in Animal Science (Shenyang Agricultural University), M.S. in Animal Science and Technology (China Agricultural University), Ph.D. in Animal Sciences (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign).
Research interests emphasize translational models linking nutrition to neurodevelopmental outcomes. His work highlights the role of dietary interventions in mitigating risks like iron imbalance and infection susceptibility. Articles focus on topics such as iron metabolism, gut microbiome modulation, and immune responses in piglet models.
Labs: Located in Meyer Hall (Lab 3329). Collaborations include studies on antioxidant properties of plant extracts and protein metabolism pathways in livestock.
