Peggy Lindner is an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Science and Technology at the University of Houston (UH), affiliated with the Cullen College of Engineering. She holds additional roles including Director of the DASH program at the Honors College and Associate Director of the HPE Data Science Institute. Her research focuses on data science workflows, computational social science, and interdisciplinary applications of text analysis. Lindner’s work bridges qualitative and quantitative data to inform policy, improve academic workflows, and address societal challenges like news deserts and academic equity.
Education: PhD in Mechanical Engineering (University of Stuttgart, 2007), MEng and BSc in Geotechnology/Mining (Freiberg University of Mining and Technology, Germany, 2000 and 1996).
Research interests include digital humanities projects like the Syrios coin database and the National Women’s Conference archives. She leads initiatives such as AIceberg (responsible AI risk management) and collaborates on sensor data frameworks (HNET). Lindner’s recent work addresses systemic biases in tenure/promotion for underrepresented faculty and mindfulness in workplace safety.
Professional engagement includes ACM membership, advising the FITP student organization, and serving on the University Libraries’ Digital Research Commons Advisory Board. Her work spans over 60 peer-reviewed publications and involves collaborations across disciplines and institutions.
