Pedro Grimalt Servera

Dr. Pedro Grimalt Servera is a full-time Professor at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), specializing in Private Law and Civil Law. He has taught since 1997/1998 at undergraduate, Master's, and Doctoral levels, focusing on courses like Donacions i Successions (Donations and Successions) and Persona i Família (Person and Family). His research centers on personality rights, data protection, civil liability, minors' legal issues, and inheritance law.

He leads the Sociedad de la Información collection at Comares Publishing House and heads the Balearic Civil Law section of Actualidad Jurídica Iberoamericana. Previously, he served as Deputy Magistrate at the Provincial Court of the Balearic Islands and conducted postdoctoral work at the Centre de Recherches de Droit et Informatique de Namur (University of Namur). Funded by the Ministry of Education and Science, he was principal investigator for the project on Sanitary Information and Patient Autonomy.

Key awards include three Six-Year Research Degrees from the Spanish Ministry of Education and a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship. His scholarly output includes 6 monographs addressing topics such as civil liability for social media harms, data protection, and honor/privacy rights under Organic Law 1/1982.
