Pedro Batista

Pedro Batista is an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC), Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Universidade de Lisboa. He is also a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Systems and Robotics (ISR) and the Laboratory of Robotics and Engineering Systems (LARSyS). His research focuses on nonlinear control, sensor-based estimation, and autonomous vehicle navigation. Batista holds a Licenciatura (2005) and PhD (2010) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from IST/UTL, followed by postdoctoral work at ISR/IST. He has been recognized with multiple teaching excellence awards (2013–2024), the ULisboa/CGD Scientific Award (2022), and prestigious honors like the Best SPR PhD Thesis (2011) and AIAA GNC Certificate of Merit (2009).

His academic roles include IEEE Senior Membership and Associate Editor for the IEEE Control Systems Society.
