Pedro Alves

Pedro Alves is an Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Film Degree program at the School of Arts, Catholic University of Portugal (Porto). He serves as Deputy Director and Integrated Researcher at CITAR (Research Center for Science and Technology of the Arts) and is a member of the Scientific Association ICONO14 (Spain) and the Screenwriting Research Network.

His research focuses on cinema, narrative, screenwriting, and education, with emphasis on creativity, digital arts, and film pedagogy. He explores intersections between virtual reality, storytelling, and educational innovation, particularly through projects like INSERT (2022-2023) and PBL4TEA (2022-2024). Notable works include analyzing the film Shirin and developing educational frameworks for collaborative teacher training.

His publications span topics such as cinematic VR narratives, film literacy in educational settings, and didactic approaches to screenwriting. He has co-edited books like Oficios del cine (2017) and Aprender del cine (2014). Pedro Alves has received the Graphis Silver Award (2023) for his project INSERT.
