Paweł Gełesz

Paweł Gełesz is an Assistant Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk's Faculty of Architecture and Design, specializing in naval architecture and industrial design. He serves as Studio Leader for the Naval Architecture Design Studio since 2016 and was Vice-Dean of the Faculty from 2016–2019. His work focuses on minimizing ego influence in collaborative design processes, emphasizing timeless functional forms while maintaining nuanced contextual details.

Education: Graduated from the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk under Professors Andrzej Lerch and Jacek Popek. Professional affiliations include Seatech Engineering Ltd. since 2009 and collaborations with institutions like Gdańsk University of Technology and the Institute of Oceanography.

Research interests include ergonomic maritime design, interdisciplinary research vessels, and innovative medical system housings. Notable projects include the r/v Oceanograf research vessel (2014–2016), the Motława II ferry for the National Maritime Museum, and the C-Eye II Pro medical system. His work frequently involves large interdisciplinary teams and industry partnerships.

Key collaborations include Seatech Engineering, Stocznia Wisła, Eleship, and 3CityElectronics. Design projects often balance aesthetic innovation with functional requirements, such as LNG-powered vessels and human-centered navigation console designs. His 2017 ferry design was published in Akademia w mieście.
