Pavel Roshanov

Pavel Roshanov, MD MSc FRCPC, is a Cross-Appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology, and the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Western University's Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. He is also a Staff Nephrologist at London Health Sciences Centre – University Hospital, a Scientist at Lawson Health Research Institute, and an Investigator at the Population Health Research Institute in Hamilton, Ontario.

Dr. Roshanov is a clinical epidemiologist focused on improving care for patients with kidney disease and kidney failure through methodological innovation in perioperative medicine, large pragmatic trials, and evidence synthesis. His work addresses critical gaps in research for high-risk populations, particularly those excluded from traditional clinical studies.

Recent research includes prevention of bleeding and transfusion in surgery for kidney failure patients, reduction of postoperative complications, modulation of chronic inflammation to prevent cardiovascular events, and implementation of large simple trials in hemodialysis. His collaborations span global institutions, leveraging randomized trials, observational studies, clinical prediction models, pharmacokinetics, systematic reviews, and statistical simulation.

Dr. Roshanov actively mentors graduate and undergraduate students, medical trainees, and researchers. His work integrates clinical practice, epidemiology, and methodological rigor to advance patient-centered outcomes and healthcare policy for populations with advanced kidney disease.
