Paula Rioux

Paula Rioux is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of History at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, affiliated with the College of Arts & Sciences. Her teaching focuses on foundational historical surveys and specialized topics, including courses on the history of Portugal and Western civilization.

Her research interests span Western Civilization (15th century to present), American History (to the Civil War), and Portuguese History, with emphasis on dynastic rivalries, overseas expansion, and post-revolutionary developments.

Paula Rioux is actively engaged in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, including HST 102: History of Western Civ II, HST 115: History of US I, and HST 521: Graduate Seminar in History.
