Associate Professor Paula Lister serves as Director of the Paediatric Critical Care Unit at Sunshine Coast University Hospital and holds an academic appointment with the University of Queensland's Faculty of Medicine. As a Senior Paediatric Intensivist and clinical researcher, she specializes in critical care for critically ill children with international leadership in multi-centre clinical trials.
Her research focuses on:
- Management of severe infections and sepsis in paediatric patients
- International multi-centre clinical trial design and execution
- Critical care interventions for viral infections and septic shock
- Evidence-based protocols for paediatric intensive care units
Professor Lister leads major trials including RESOLVE, Hyp-HIT, TRIPICU, CHIP, CATCH, Cool-NEC, and USII through collaborations with UK PICS-SG, ANZIC PSG, and PCCRG. She serves as World Health Organisation rapporteur for severe viral infection management, Chair of the Australian Sepsis Network's Paediatric Sepsis Advisory Network, and co-Chair of the Queensland Paediatric Sepsis Program.
