Paula Escribano Castaño is an Associate Professor and Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Social Anthropology, University of Barcelona (UB), affiliated with the Grup d'Estudis sobre Reciprocitat (GER). She leads the 'Food Systems' research line and coordinates the safeguarding plan for Spain's transhumance cultural heritage. Her work focuses on rural livelihoods, state policies, and environmental impacts on food systems. She holds a PhD (2020) and Master's degree from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), with fieldwork in Catalonia, Hungary, and India.
Research & Projects
Her projects include analyzing short food chains, neoliberal policies, and pandemic impacts. Key grants include the Juan de la Cierva Fellowship (2021-2023) and collaborations with institutions like the Erasmus University Rotterdam. She has directed ethnographic documentaries on Catalan shepherding and Indian traditional practices.

Teaching
