Professor Paul Stoddart is a faculty member in the School of Engineering at Swinburne University of Technology. His research focuses on applied optics, biophotonics, and biomedical instrumentation, with projects in fiber optic sensors, Raman spectroscopy, and laser nerve stimulation. He co-founded startups H3D and Nirtek, advancing technologies for medical devices and diagnostics.
Research Interests: His work spans optical neuromodulation, nanomaterials, and medical device development. Notable contributions include retinal prostheses using gold nanoparticles and near-infrared autofluorescence (NIRAF) for detecting unstable coronary plaques.
