Paul Stevenson

Paul Stevenson is a Professor of Physics at the University of Surrey, holding the AWE William Penney Fellowship since 2020. He has been affiliated with Surrey since 2000, progressing from post-doc roles to his current professorship. His research focuses on nuclear structure and reaction theory, quantum computation, and computational physics with interdisciplinary extensions to quantum biology.

Education: MA (Oxford), MSc (Open University), DPhil (Oxford). Academic memberships include the Institute of Physics and the Tufty Club.

Research interests span theoretical nuclear physics (density-functional methods, fusion/fission dynamics) and quantum computing applications (quantum algorithms for nuclear problems). Notable achievements include contributions to the Sky3D computational framework and studies of octupole collectivity in nuclei like Gd-150 and Pb-208.

Recent articles highlight quantum computing solutions for diophantine equations and nuclear structure challenges, alongside experimental collaborations on Gd-150 and Pb-208 collectivity. Awards include the AWE fellowship.
