Paul Stephan

Paul Stephan is the John C. Jeffries, Jr. Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of Virginia School of Law. As a Senior Fellow in the Melbourne Law Masters program, he contributes to international legal education. His expertise spans international business law and the evolution of legal systems in post-Soviet states.

Professor Stephan has advised governments and organizations like the IMF on law reform in Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, Albania, Slovakia, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan. His research examines corruption, Cold War legal history, and the globalization of economic governance. He has organized conferences and edited volumes on these themes, bridging academic and policy perspectives.
