Jun. Prof. Dr. Paul Schempp is an Assistant Professor at the University of Cologne's Center for Macroeconomic Research within the Faculty of Management, Economics, and Social Sciences (WiSo Faculty). His research focuses on Financial Economics, particularly Bank Regulation, Systemic Risk, and Regulatory Policy. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Bonn (2015) and has held positions at the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods (2014–2017) and as a Visiting Scholar at Columbia University (2016/17). He was awarded the Otto Hahn Medal (2016) for his work on liquidity provision and financial stability. His recent publications explore topics like regulatory arbitrage, capital requirements, and systemic liquidity crises.
