Paul Sanchez

Dr. Paul Sanchez serves as an Assistant Professor of Religion at Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) and Assistant Director of the Honors Mabee Learning Center. A native of San Jose, California, he specializes in Church History, Historical Theology, and Theology, with a focus on Southern Baptist traditions, racial justice, and the intersection of religion and culture.

His recent book, A New Christianity for the New South (2026), analyzes William Louis Poteat’s influence on Southern Baptist liberalism. Presentations include topics like Latino Church challenges and social righteousness in Southern Baptist contexts.
