Adjunct Professor Paul Roe is affiliated with the School of Computer Science in QUT's Faculty of Science. He holds a PhD from the University of Glasgow and an MEng from the University of York. His research focuses on interdisciplinary projects such as ecological acoustic monitoring, big data analysis, and Aboriginal communication systems. He leads the Microsoft-QUT eResearch Centre, a collaboration advancing tools for environmental research. Professor Roe has published over 200 papers, secured $10M+ in research funding, and supervised 21 PhD students. His work includes creating the world's first acoustic observatory (www.acousticobservatory.org) to monitor biodiversity via soundscapes.
