Professor Paul Mills is a faculty member at the University of Queensland, affiliated with both the School of Veterinary Science (under Faculty of Science) and the Centre for Marine Science. He holds a Bachelor (Honours) of Veterinary Science, PhD, Postgraduate Diploma in Education, and Master of Science from the University of Queensland.
His research spans transdermal drug delivery, equine pulmonary and synovial surfactant mechanisms, oxidative stress, and proteomics for pain/inflammation biomarkers. He has pioneered transdermal analgesic formulations for livestock, explored surfactant's role in joint/lung diseases, and investigated equine thermoregulation. His work includes proteomic studies for surgical trauma response and NSAID efficacy, plus teaching innovations in veterinary education.
His publications focus on transdermal pharmacology (15+ recent articles), proteomic applications in disease monitoring, equine physiology, and veterinary education. He has received the Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) and grants from Meat & Livestock Australia, Morris Animal Foundation, and others.
