Paul Linjamaa

Paul Linjamaa is a Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor in the History of Religions at the Centre for Theology and Religious Studies, Lund University. His research explores ancient religiosity, focusing on early Christian heterodoxy such as Gnosticism and the Nag Hammadi Library, alongside the reception of these traditions in modernity and postmodernity.

His academic work examines the dynamics between heresy and orthodoxy, textual materiality, and the role of religion in society. Recent projects funded by the Swedish Research Council and Swedish Academy of Sciences address Gnostic ethics, determinism, and interdisciplinary cultural history.

Key research outputs include the monograph The Nag Hammadi Codices and their Ancient Readers (2024) and studies on gender dominance, manuscript analysis, and religious conceptualization. Teaching spans undergraduate and advanced courses in religious studies and theology.
