Paul Linden

Paul Linden is a Professor at the University of Southern Mississippi's Department of Music, specializing in Popular Music History, Cultural Studies, Artist Management, and Vintage Audio. He holds a PhD (2003) and BA (1993) from Emory University, and an MS (2013) from the University of Southern Mississippi.

His research focuses on Popular Music History and Cultural Studies, with particular emphasis on the origins of Rock & Roll and sociocultural dynamics in music. He has contributed to academic discourse through publications in the MEIEA Journal, including his 2012 article analyzing racial politics in the emergence of Rock & Roll.

Professional activities include:

• Teaching courses on Electron tube amplifiers and Harmonica
• Membership in the Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association
• Proficient in French at professional working level

In creative practice, he collaborated with Sean Costello on compositions including I Ain't Got A Home, All This Time, and Told me a Lie, featured on Costello's posthumously re-released 2014 album We Can Get Together (Landslide Records).
