Dr. Paul Lavery is a Lecturer in Finance at the University of Glasgow’s Adam Smith Business School, where he joined in 2020. He holds affiliations with the Centre for Private Equity and MBO Research (CMBOR) at the University of Nottingham and the UK Productivity Institute. Previously, he worked in investment banking and with a UK private equity investor. His research focuses on private equity, venture capital, and corporate finance dynamics, particularly examining buyout impacts on firm performance, exports, and productivity. Key contributions include studies on Brexit’s effect on UK firms, crisis-period exporting behavior, and post-COVID-19 portfolio firm resilience.
His research has been published in journals like the Journal of Corporate Finance and British Journal of Management, and featured in media outlets such as the Financial Times and Institutional Investor. He chairs the Research Advisory Committee at the British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (BVCA).
