Paul Krause

Paul Krause, M. Sc. Geowissenschaften, is a Research Fellow at the Department of Archaeometallurgy, Division of Basic Research, within the German Mining Museum Bochum (Ruhr University Bochum). His academic background includes a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Geosciences, with specialization in Economic Geology, from TU Bergakademie Freiberg.

His research focuses on ore deposits, isotope geochemistry, mineralogy, geochemistry, and metallogeny. A key project he contributes to is "Silver isotopes and the rise of money" (ERC-funded, Lyon), specifically investigating silver in non-galena ores.

Paul is affiliated with professional societies such as the German Mineralogical Society (DMG), the Society for Natural Archaeology and Archaeometry (GNAA), and the Friends of Mineralogy and Geology (VFMG). His work integrates archaeometallurgy with foundational geological research.
