Paul Goodwin

Paul Goodwin is Professor and Chair of Contemporary Art and Urbanism at University of the Arts London, where he also directs the TrAIN Research Centre. His scholarship examines transnational artistic practices with focus on African diaspora contributions to contemporary art.

Research encompasses:

• Curatorial methodologies in global contexts
• Urbanism and artistic production
• Critical race studies in art history

Major curatorial projects include:

• Migrations: Journeys Into British Art (Tate Britain)
• Charlie Phillips: The Urban Eye (Deutsche Börse nominee)
• We Will Walk: Art and Resistance in the American South

Current PhD supervision topics explore:

• Black Arts Movement archives
• Caribbean resistance aesthetics
• Decolonial museum practices

Grants include leadership of the international research project Worlding Public Cultures: The Arts and Social Innovation.
