Paul Fulda

Paul Fulda is Associate Professor of Physics at the University of Florida, specializing in experimental gravitational wave detection. His research encompasses both ground-based (LIGO) and space-based (LISA) detection systems, with particular focus on improving sensitivity through advanced optical techniques.

His research develops precision interferometry methods including radio-frequency alignment sensing for LIGO cavities, higher-order Laguerre-Gauss beam interferometry for improved sensitivity, and thermal characterization techniques for optical systems. For LISA, he contributes to optical metrology system design and telescope prototyping.

Current R&D projects include electro-optic beam deflectors for interferometric alignment sensing without quadrant photodetectors, and precision interferometry using higher-order Hermite-Gauss beams. He also collaborates with NASA on LISA telescope testing facilities.
