Professor Paul Fitzgerald is an Adjunct Professor (Research) in the Department of Psychiatry at Monash University and Director of the Epworth Centre for Innovation in Mental Health. He holds dual roles as Professor of Psychiatry at Monash University and Epworth HealthCare. With a medical degree (1991) and PhD in transcranial magnetic stimulation (2003), his research focuses on developing brain stimulation therapies for psychiatric disorders like depression, schizophrenia, and Alzheimer’s disease. Key techniques include rTMS, tDCS, and DBS. He has led over 48 research projects, secured $15M+ in funding, and published over 500 peer-reviewed articles. Awards include NARSAD Young Investigator Awards (2003/2005) and RANZCP Senior Research Award (2022).
