About
Paul Eugenio is Professor and Chair of the Department of Physics at Florida State University's College of Arts and Sciences. He received his PhD in Particle Physics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and previously held positions at Carnegie Mellon University.
His research focuses on non-perturbative quantum chromodynamics (QCD), particularly the search for exotic meson states incompatible with the Standard Quark Model. He leads efforts in the GlueX Experiment at Jefferson Lab, using linearly polarized photons to probe gluonic excitations and quark confinement mechanisms.
Eugenio designed and fabricated the GlueX Time-of-Flight detector and upgraded its inner modules for high-intensity operations. His publications span meson spectroscopy, nucleon structure measurements, and searches for beyond-Standard-Model particles.
