Paul Cormier

Dr. Paul Cormier is an Associate Professor and Chair in the Department of Indigenous Education at Lakehead University’s Faculty of Education. A status Indian and proud member of the Red Rock Indian Band in Northern Ontario, Canada, he focuses on Indigenous methodologies and violence toward Indigenous peoples in education systems.

His research spans traditional Indigenous learning systems, colonial contexts, and Indigenous peacebuilding practices. Cormier has taught courses like Aboriginal Education, Indigenous Peace and Conflict, and Field Experience, while collaborating with institutions such as the University of Winnipeg.

As a community member of Red Rock Indian Band, he balances academic work with family life as a husband to Shannon and father to Wil and Josie.
